Sarah enjoys the heat

Winter in Tenerife...

Sarah and Mrs Keen are both bored of the cold weather in England in October. They have booked to fly out to Tenerife because it's still very hot there. It is such a long way that they have to take two aeroplanes to get there!

They got up very early and drove to the airport. They took their seats on the plane and waited for the pilot to startup the engines.

Inside there were lots of people all waiting like Mrs Keen and Sarah. Sarah found it a bit boring so she went to sleep.

When Sarah woke up they were flying over some mountains. Looking out of the window was very exciting!.

When they arrived, Mrs Keen picked up their hire car and drove to the hotel. When they got there the lady said that the hotel had been flooded though and they had to stay in another hotel over the road. Sarah pulled her suitcase over the road but the other hotel was very nice too.

They had a balcony with a lovely view of hills.

The next day Mrs Keen drove them up a mountain. When they got to the top she told Sarah that Mount Teide is actually a volcano. Sarah looked up and wondered if it was going to explode.

As they drove around the mountain they saw lots of different rocks that the volcano had made. Sarah decided to try climbing a few - they were like mountains to her!

Sarah looked around and said she thought it looked like the moon - what do you think?

Parent's Note

Sarah Bear stayed in Los Cristianos, a major but quieter resort in the south of Tenerife. The original hotel was the Sol Princessa Dacil but due to flooding they stayed at the Hotel Oasis Moroque H10. They flew BA / Iberia, booked via and hired through Hertz.

If you want to visit Teide, look around the airport for a leaflet on the cablecar - there is a phone number that you can ring to tell you if it's working.
