Little Bear is having a holiday in the sun... (contd)

Little Bear is on holiday in Gran Canaria this week. If you've not read his first page then click here.

The next day they decided to explore the island so Little Bear got into the car, put his seatbelt on and Mrs Keen drove them away.

Little Bear was a bit disappointed that the car wasn't a Ford but it seemed quite good anyway!

Roque Nublo - Gran Canaria

They drove off into the mountains. The road was very long and windy. Little Bear was sitting in the back and began to feel carsick.

They saw a big rock at the top of the mountain ahead, Mrs Keen told Little Bear that it is called "Roque Nublo" and is the remains of a volcano.

They stopped at the top of one of the mountains and got out for a walk. Little Bear looked up at the big rock and thought about trying to climb up it!

As they drove down the road Little Bear spotted some big plants and wondered what they were. The first was a big tree with pine cones and the second was a big spiky plant.

The next day Little Bear went for a walk down the beach. The sea looked very beautiful and blue.

Maspalomas dunes

As he walked further down the beach he spotted a big area of dunes. Sand Dunes are big areas of sand, like in a desert. Little Bear ran up and down the sand - it was great fun.

While he was in the dunes, Little Bear met a new Friend - he's a camel - he lives in the desert.

The next day they drove upto Puerto de Mogan. Puerto de Mogan is a small village with some great fish restaurants.

It was another windy road ...

The views as they drove down to the village are beautiful.

When they arrived the village was very pretty and Mrs Keen bought lunch - they had fish. Then they went for a walk around, looking at the big yellow ferry.

All too soon it was time to go home again so they drove to the airport to catch the aeroplane. They enjoyed their holiday lots - have you had a holiday?

Parent's Note

Little Bear stayed in Playa del Ingles, a major resort in Gran Canaria, in the Hotel Lucana. He booked via www.expedia.co.uk and hired a car from Holiday Autos to get around the island. The dunes are at Maspalomas.
